Remembering the Pains of the Lord

God is sincere(Jn 3:33).
For it is impossible for Him to lie(He 6:18),
He surely acts according to what He speaks(Nu 23:19).

Faith is believing in the sincerity of God and
The life of this faith is having one’s soul soaked in such and revealing Him.

In order for someone’s sincerity to be acknowledged,
His words and his actions must be proven the same – over a period of time.
As such, in order for God to reveal His sincerity,
The Bible was written(Jn 5:39) and
Many times had to pass(He 1:1-2).

The Bible consists of the Old Testament and the New Testament, or
The first covenant and the new covenant(He 9:15-18), and
Like a will(testament), they contain the sincere words of God.

The Old Testament is comprised of the Law and the Prophets until John(Mt 11:13).
The Law is the visible revelation, copies(He 9:23) and
The Prophets heard prophecies, parables.

According to the Law, the sanctuary was where
The shedding of the blood of animals was(He 9:18-22),
While the prophet prophesied that God would send
A lamb to the slaughter to be oppressed and killed(Is 53:4)

Jesus said, “Destroy the temple and I will raise it in three days”(Jn 2:19), because
Through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body,
He was going to fulfill the Law and the Prophets(Mt 5:17-18) for
He the Word in the beginning that became flesh and blood(Jn 1:1, 14),
The Lamb of God who came to lay down His life as a ransom for sinners(Jn 1:29, Mt 20:28).

As such, His life on earth was filled with sorrow, agony and indignity(Mt 26:38; Lk 12:49), and
His death on the cross was the height of His suffering(Ps 22:14-15; Jn 19:29).

As He died, Jesus said, “It is finished”(Jn 19:30), declaring that He:
1. By laying down His life according to the Father’s word proved the sincerity of the Father(Mt 5:17-18; Jn 10:17-18);
2. Condemned the liar devil(Jn 8:44; 1Jn 3:8); and
3. Tore His flesh and shed His blood for souls to drink and eat for life and be risen at the last day(Jn 6:53-57).
Jesus rose, ascended to heaven.
He is the Lamb who sits on the throne who forever bears the marks of suffering(Rev 5:12-13).

The gospel is the price of His suffering that He bore in His body(1Pe 2:24) and
The Holy Spirit came to souls who ate His flesh and drank His blood and
He lets them re-live the life of Christ(Jn 14:26, 15:26).

Communion is commemorating His death and remembering His pains(1Co 11:26):
Every piece of bread bears the pains of carving out His skin(Lev 1:6) and
Every cup of wine contains the outcries of His agony.

The people of the Spirit are those who are moved by
The love of the Father who kept silent before the painful outcries of the Son(Mt 27:46) and
The sincerity of the Son who took the bitter cup of suffering(Mt 26:39).
Therefore, when they come together, they love each other(1Co 11:33) and
When they scatter, they proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes(1Co 11:26).

O Lord,
Like foolish children,
We were indifferent to Your agony and inconsiderate of Your pains.
Let us remember that,
Before resurrection was death,
Before peace was punishment and
Before glory is shame.
Let Your sorrow, agony, outcries and petition soak my soul and
Let those whom I meet also drink and eat the Lord! Amen.
