Faith is Confidence

Faith is Confidence
(Eph 3:12-13)

God is great(Ps 42:7, Ps 95:3).
Through His greatness, He reveals Himself and
For He is great, He rules all nations.

Faith is believing Him and gaining confidence(1Ti 3:13), and
The life of this faith is overcoming the world with confidence, in order to stand confidently before His
Throne(1Jn 4:17).

The men of faith recorded in the Bible, such as
Rahab, Gideon, David, Daniel etc(Dt 31:6-8; Jos 1:1-9, Jos 2:2-24; He 11:31-38; Mt 1:1),
All had confidence.

Deceived by the devil,
Adam sinned and death entered all(Rm 5:12) and
The devil became the ruler of death(He 2:14).

When Abraham received
The providence of giving his only son as a burnt offering,
He was ready to slain his son because he had faith, confidence(He 11:19).
Thus, God prepared a ram for him to give instead.

Instructed by Moses,
The Israelites who had been slaves for 430 years
Boldly marched out of Egypt overnight(Ex 14:8) and
Crossed the Red Sea, for
God fought for them(Ex 14:21-31).

Among the 12 tribe leaders of Israel who had gone
To Canaan to explore(Nu 13:2-3),
Joshua and Caleb were ready to swallow up Canaanites(Nu 14:9), and
As such, they conquered the land where milk and honey flowed(Nu 14:24).

The cowards, on the other hand, who
Considered themselves as grasshoppers(Nu 13:31-33)
All fell in the desert and died(Nu 14:23).

The Ark inside the sanctuary
Reminded the Israelites the greatness of God and
Thus, it was their confidence.

Jesus said, “Destroy the temple and I will raise it in three days”(Jn 2:19-21), because
Through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body,
He would reveal that He is the great King(Jn 18:37) who came in flesh(Jn 1:1, Jn 1:14).

Hence, He rebuked
The sea(Mt 4:39) and demons(Mt 4:39),
As well as those in power(Mt 12:34, Mt 23:33).
And He boldly faced death(Lk 24:51; Jn 19:11).

As He died, Jesus said, “It is finished”(Jn 19:30), declaring that He:
1. Laid down His life and obeyed the Father who alone is great(Jn 10:17-18; Php 2:8);
2. Condemned the devil who challenged the throne of God(Is 14:12-15); and
3. With His blood redeemed men, releasing them from slavery and the fear of death, and made a way for them to confidently approach the throne(He 2:14-15, He 10:19).
Jesus finally overcame the world and resurrected(Jn 16:33; Rev 3:21), and
Ascended to the heavenly throne.

The Holy Spirit came in the name Jesus to
Those whose confidence is His blood alone(He 10:19-20) and
Lets them have all the more confidence(Ac 4:8).

While every man is afraid of death,
Faith is not fearing death, for
The Lord Jesus carried sin, which is to be feared more than death(1Co 15:55-57).

Therefore, the men of the Spirit are those who:
1. Deliver the word of God without hesitation(Ac 4:13, Ac 4:29, Ac 23:11);
2. Never fear, whether it is poverty, sickness, war or even death(2Co 7:16); and
3. Confidently approach the throne of grace to receive grace to help them in their time of need(He 4:16; 1Jn 5:14).
And the world is not worthy of such people(He 11:31-38).

O Lord,
We are fragile like grasshoppers.
To overcome this big world and confidently stand before Your throne,
We need Your mercy.
Give us the faith that does not fear death!
Give us the confidence that the world is not worthy of! Amen.
