Renew A Right Spirit Within Me
(Ps51:1-19; 1Jn1:8-10)

God is upright (Dt32:4).
His Word, precepts and regulations are all right and true (Neh9:13; Ps19:8, 33:4), and
He judges with His uprightness (Ps9:8).
Furthermore, He lives with the upright and takes the upright into His confidence (Ps140:13; Pr3:32).

Faith is acknowledging Him and listening to His Word, and
The life of this faith is about neither being deceived nor deceiving in order to see His face in that day (Ps11:7).

Being “upright” refers to being the same inside and out.
While everyone likes to deal with the upright
No one wants to deal with hypocrites, those two-faced.
Would God who observes the heart see the faces of those with deceit (cf. Ps11:7)?

Sin refers to being deceived (Rm7:11) as
Satan deceived himself because of his pride (Jer49:16; Eze28:17) and
Deceived Eve who then deceived Adam to take the forbidden fruit (Ge3:4-6; 2Co11:3).
Thereafter, Adam became a deceived spirit
Destined to deceive and be deceived in the world (Pr14:8; 2Ti3:13).

While through the exodus, the Israelites knew that it is impossible for God to lie (He6:18),
They remained stiff-necked prone to be deceived (Ex33:3-9).
Thus, God gave them the upright Law to not be deceived (Neh9:13; Ps33:4) and
Commanded them to build the sanctuary which reminded them of this.

In spite of it, however, the priests and the prophets were godless and wicked,
Not turning the people from their wickedness to avoid curse (Jer23:9-14).

David, on the other hand, was allowed to keep his throne until the end for
When he was warned of his sin by the prophet he was contrite and repented, and
He had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord (1Ki15:5).

Yeshua said, “Destroy this temple and I will raise it again in three days” (Jn2:19), because
Through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body,
He would purify and revive the heart of the contrite (Is57:15-16) for
He is the upright Word, the Truth (Jn1:1, 14, 14:6) who had no deceit in His mouth (Is53:7-9).
Yet people did not listen to Him for their father was the father of lies, the devil (Jn8:43-47).

As He died, He said, “It is finished” (Jn19:30), declaring that He:
1)Testified that the Father alone is upright by laying down His life (Ps33:4; Jn10:18);
2) By dying as Adam allowed the devil to destroy himself by his own craftiness (Job5:13; 1Co15:45); and
3) Redeemed the sins of all men and sprinkled His blood and purified their souls (Mt20:28).

He resurrected and
Sat on the heavenly throne where He judges with uprightness (Ps9:8; Rev21:5).

The Holy Spirit, the Right Spirit, comes in the name Yeshua
To renew the upright souls born again in His blood.
He leads them away from the world and gathers them into the church so that
They no longer deceive or are deceived (2Ti3:13).

For prayer is the most upright moment for his soul before the fiery eyes of God,
With a broken a contrite heart (Ps51:17)
The Christian exposes any deceit within him (Jas4:8-9; 1Jn1:8-10),
Such as deceiving himself because of his pride (1Co3:18),
Deceiving himself merely listening to the Word (Jas1:22-25) and
Not putting a tight rein on his tongue to make his godliness meaningless (Jas1:26).
He hopes to not be cut off from the fellowship with the Lord while alive (Ps23:2-3) and
Finally see His face after death (Ps11:7).

O Lord,
Though my soul longs for the upright Word even if it is painful and difficult to hear,
My ears still detest hearing it (Ams5:10) —
Until when do I deceive myself?
Lord,
Have mercy on me and renew a right spirit within me! Amen.
