I Am In the Covenant With God
(Gal3:15-29)

God is the God of covenant.
He remembers His covenant forever (Ps105:8) and
He keeps His covenant with those who keep His commandments (Neh1:5).

While religion is the human attempt to approach the divine,
Unbelievers are those without covenant with God (Eph2:11-13),
Thus having no promise from Him, no eternal life (1Jn2:25).

Faith is knowing that I am in the covenant with God (2Co7:1; He6:12) and
The life of this faith is keeping His covenant to enter the promised heaven and earth (2Pe3:13).

Human society is based on contracts:
Citizenship, marriage, matriculation, employment, business transactions, banking, insurance etc.
The involved parties mutually agree on the conditions of a contract
But if there is a default the contract breaks.

The Bible is the book of God’s holy covenant (Lk1:72):
The content of the promises He showed to men and
The record of His fulfillment of them.

By disobeying the command regarding the forbidden fruit (Ge2:17)
Adam broke the covenant with God and was driven out of the Garden (Hos6:7).
Noah, on the other hand, believed in God’s covenant and built an ark (Ge6:18) and
Thus was saved from the flood and received the sign of rainbow (Ge9:13-15).

For Abraham believed in God’s covenant of
The land of Canaan, many descendants (Ge15:18, 17:2, 4) and God being their God (Ge17:7),
As a mark of that covenant he was circumcised (Ge17:14) and
He carried out the command of sacrificing his only son (He11:17).

The Israelites were delivered from their slavery of 400 years for
It was according to the covenant God made with their ancestor (Ge15:13).
As the number of their people increased
The oppression against them also increased (Ex2:24; Ac7:17) as
This was for God to be their God (Ex6:5).

Putting before them the ark of covenant which contained
The “words of the covenant = the Ten Commandments = the tablets of the covenant” (Ex34:28)
They crossed the Jordan and collapsed the city of Jericho (Jos3:17, 6:4-20),
Entering the Promised Land.

Nevertheless, the fall of Israel came (Lev26:15-17; 1Ki11:1-13) for
The people and their kings broke the covenant of God.
Thus they longed for the prophecy of the messenger of the covenant coming to the temple (Mal3:1).

Yeshua said, “Destroy this temple and I will raise it again in three days,” because
Through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body (Jn2:19-20),
He would write His covenant on not the flesh but their minds and hearts (Jer31:33; He8:9-10)
Made with not the blood of animals but His own blood (Ex24:8; Mt26:28)
For the forgiveness of sins and He would become the Father of all nations (Jn1:12).
He promised a kingdom, a new haven and a new earth (Jas2:5; 2Pe3:13).

As He died, He said, “It is finished” (Jn19:30), declaring that He:
1) Died according to the command and kept the Father’s covenant (Jn10:17-18);
2) Judged the devil who left his proper position on his own (Is14:12-15; Jude1:6); and
3) With His blood became the Mediator of a superior covenant with all men (He8:6).

According to His promise, He resurrected and ascended to heaven (Mt16:21), and
Sent the Holy Spirit whom He promised (Ac1:4).

The Holy Spirit comes to those who have
Received the name Yeshua and have made a covenant with Him and
He reminds them of the promise of Yeshua (Jn14:2-3).

The Christian is he who,
Perseveres through whatever the test or temptation that comes to the end and waits (He10:36) and
Remains in the promise made in the name of Yeshua (Mt18:20, 28:19; Jn14:14) for
He knows that He who promised is faithful (Rm8:26; He10:23).
When the promise-maker returns (Jn14:3)
He longs to receive the crown of life and finally enter the promised land (Jas1:12).

O Lord,
What is man that You treat him as the counterpart to the covenant with You?
Let us not be swayed by our emotions, moods or senses.
Rather let us remain only in the covenant of God.
Let us become superior intellectuals, the faithful of Your covenant! Amen.
