I Am A Runner
(1Co9:23-27; He12:1-2)

God is the Rewarder (He11:6).
By His word He set up a race field and
He rewards those who run according to the word (2Ti4:8).

Faith is believing Him and making the decision to become a runner.
The life of this faith is running the race according to the rules (2Ti2:5), with endurance and self-
control in order to share in the blessings of the gospel (1Co9:23).

Through a long period of time and a rigorous training
Those qualified to race must follow the rules and put all their life into winning.
What they hope to receive in the end, however, is only a perishable crown.

The Bible, on the other hand, promises an eternal crown (1Co9:25):
For those wearing “the crown of life,” “the crown of glory,” and
“The crown of righteousness” (Jas1:12; 1Pe5:4; 2Ti4:8),
The throne and the thrones are prepared in the spiritual heaven (Rev4:4).

The archangel Lucifer was cast down from heaven into Hades (Is14:12-15) for
A servant created to minister, irrelevant to a crown (Lk17:9; He1:14), challenged the throne.

The sanctuary where the name of Jehovah was (1Ki8:16)
Reminded that the chosen people Israel were the servants of Jehovah (Ps113:1) for
The command they received was the spirit of servant (Rm8:15).
If they obeyed they were rewarded practically, physically
But if not, they were not tolerated even for one mistake.

Yeshua said, “Destroy this temple and I will raise it again in three days” (Jn2:19), because
Through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body,
He would in the Father’s name Yeshua (Jn5:43), not Jehovah
To the children of God (Jn1:12), not the servants of Jehovah
Give not the the spiritual reward, not the physical —
That is, the crown and the throne promised for those who follow Him (Mt19:28-29).

Though on earth He received a crown of thorns (Mt27:28),
As He died, Yeshua said, “It is finished” (Jn19:30), declaring that He:
1) Died according to the Father’s law for the reward in heaven (Jn10:18; He2:9, 12:2);
2) Clothed the enemy the devil with shame (Ps132:18; 1Jn3:8); and
3) Shed His redeeming blood to all men (Eph1:7) so that they may come out to the running field.

He resurrected and received the crown of fine gold (Ps21:3; Rev4:14) and
Sat on the heavenly throne.

The Holy Spirit whom He sent
Lets those baptized in the name Yeshua to run the race (Gal3:27; He12:1) for
They have become a spectacle to God, to the world, to angels and to men (1Co4:9).

Towards the purpose of a sure victory,
The Christian runs the race
In the race field of Christ, the church, according to the word (law) of Yeshua and
With self-control absolutely limits the desires of the flesh, temper (Gal5:17; Eph4:26),
With endurance runs to finish the race (2Ti4:7-8; He12:1).
To the runner there is no quitting and
Even after falling seven times he must get back up eight times for
He is not a servant who is not tolerated for even one mistake
But rather a child whose Father watches over.
Furthermore, he fears that after preaching to others that he himself might be disqualified (1Co9:27).
It is his hope to stand before Christ’s award podium through the first resurrection.

O Lord,
Even though we fell countless times and struggled in 2018
You still did not abandon us but waited for us. Thank You!
Let us bounce back in 2019.
Let us consider it our chance to come back and run desperately!
Please watch over us. Amen.
