He Who Dies To Himself
(Jn12:24-26)

God is the Lord of life.
From Him comes life and
He rewards those who serve sacrificially with eternal life.

Faith is longing to serve Him and
The life of this faith is, in order to receive eternal life, dying to oneself everyday (Lk9:23; Php1:21).

While any religion or ideology considers
Those who sacrifice themselves for the sake of the supreme righteousness or good as heroes,
The world in the last days sees the surge of “me-ism,” especially with the “Me Me Me Generation,”
As the prince of the world causes men to become even more self-centered,
Pulling them further away from God (Mt24:12).

Deceived through his wife who ate the forbidden fruit, Adam also ate it (Ge3:4-12) and
When God pressed hard, he made excuses blaming God and his wife and
His self-centeredness was put into motion
As this was the effect of the devil who insisted on “I” and was driven out of heaven (Is14:12-15).

Thereafter, the devil spurred on the animal instinct of “the survival of the fittest”
Causing a brother to kill his own brother (Ge4:8; 1Jn3:12).

Abraham, however, when tested to give his only son to God as a burnt sacrifice (Ge22:2),
With the faith that God Himself will provide a lamb for sacrifice (Ge22:8)
He was ready to kill his son.
But God let him give the ram that He Himself provided and Abraham’s son lived (Ge22:12-13).

The exodus of his descendants, Israel, was by the sacrifice of the Passover lamb (Ex12:21-24).
So their firstborns lived and the kingdom of Israel was born (Ex19:6).

To remind them to observe the day and remember for generations
God had them make the sanctuary where
There always was sacrifice — burnt offering, guilt offering, sin offering, fellowship offering (Lev1-7).
Sacrifice was brought at the entrance of the tent of meeting and
The priest laid his hand on it and it was killed, its blood splashed and the meat burned.
Only when the animal was sacrificed
The sins of the people were forgiven, they became holy and able to serve God.

In spite of this, however, they eventually gave meaningless offerings (Is1:11-4) and so
The prophet spoke of the nearing day of the Lord
When He would prepare a sacrifice Himself (Zep1:7).

As such, Yeshua said, “Destroy this temple and I will raise it again in three days” (Jn2:19), because
Through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body,
Not an a animal but God Himself would become the atoning sacrifice for the souls of all men for
He is the Word in the beginning who came as the Son of Man, the Lamb of God (Jn1:29; Mt20:28)
To die as a kernel of wheat to raise many to life (Jn12:24).
So He called the disciple who wanted to keep Him from dying “Satan” (Mt16:23), and
Said that all who draw the sword will die by the sword (Mt26:52).

As He died, He said, “It is finished” (Jn19:30), declaring that He:
1) Laid down His life and became the sacrifice whom the Father prepared for Himself, perfectly serving the Father (Jn10:17-18; He10:12 ,14);
2) Condemned the devil the origin of self-centeredness (1Jn3:8); and
3) Sacrificed Himself and raised men to life (Ge22:8; Jn1:14; Mt20:28).

The Father raised Him back to life (Ac5:30) and
Seated Him on the heavenly throne and He became the Lord of life (Ac3:15).

The Holy Spirit whom He sent testifies the name Yeshua and
Gathers those who came to life by the sacrifice of Christ the passover Lamb (1Co5:7),
That is, the church.
A disciple is he who
Buried his old self through baptism into death with Christ (Rm6:4, 6, 11-2) and
In order to receive life in the age to come, that is, enteral life (Mk10:30)
Takes up his cross daily and follows the Lord (Lk9:23; Mk8:34).
He sacrifices himself to share the gospel and the name Yeshua with unbelievers (Rev12:11), and
He is resolved to daily put to death his ego, pride, self-centeredness (Col3:5; Php1:21; Gal2:20)
For when one dies to himself,
The kingdom lives, the church lives, the family lives and souls live.

O Lord,
If I could die and one soul could
Confess that Yeshua is Lord and bows his knees before the name Yeshua
Then I am ready to die.
So let ME, ME, ME die! Amen.
