This Treasure in Jars of Clay
2 Corinthians 4:7 by Pastor Jo Kim
Series: Revive the Church

This Treasure in Jars of Clay
(2Co 4:7)

God is the God of truth(Jer 10:10; 1Jn 5:20).
The truth is in Him alone and
The truth comes only from Him.

Faith is receiving Him(Jn 1:12) and
The life of this faith is, without adding or taking away anything from the truth,
Delivering it as-is(Rev 22:18-19).

While all things change,
Precious stone change the least in their essence, quantity or color(1Pe 1:18).

The truth never changes for
It is always true –
It is the word of God that stands forever(1Pe 1:24-25).

God contained in Hades the archangel, Satan who
Deceived himself and changed(Is 14:12-15).

God made man a living being(Ge 2:7),
A vessel to contain the truth, i.e., the perfect treasure.
In spite of that, Adam was deceived by the devil, i.e., Satan and sinned(1Jn 3:7-8) and
Consequently, his spirit became unclean and all men became unclean(Rm 5:12).

The Law of Moses commanded the Israelites to shed blood
To be cleansed of their sins(Lev 17:11).

Furthermore, every vessel used in the sanctuary was
Cleansed with the blood of animals for
Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness(He 9:21-22).
Nevertheless, this was only regarding the flesh(He 9:10)
Since the blood of animals cannot wash away sins of the spirit(He 10:3-4).

Jesus said, “Destroy the temple and I will raise it again in three days”(Jn 2:19), because
Through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body,
He would cleanse the sin of all men, i.e., the first Adam, and
Contain the truth in them(Jn 15:7, Jn 17:17), for
He is the Word that was in the beginning, the unchanging God, who became flesh(Jn 1:1),
The Only Begotten Son, full of truth(Jn 1:14).

As He died, Jesus said, “It is finished”(Jn 19:30), declaring that He:
As the last Adam died according to what the Father said to the first Adam, testifying that the Father’s word is true(Ge 2:17;1Co 15:45);
Condemned the devil, the liar, the father of lies(Ge 3:4; Jn 8:44; 1Jn 3:8); and
With His precious blood redeemed, cleansed the sin of the first Adam(Jn 13:8; 1Pe 1:18-19).
His resurrection testifies that Jesus is the truth, the true God(Jn 11:25, Jn 14:6; 1Jn 5:20).
Jesus sat on the heavenly throne and judges with the words that He spoke(Jn 12:48).

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth(Jn 16:13) who
Comes to those whose vessels are cleansed with His blood(2Ti 2:20), and
Lets them contain treasures – His name, His word and spiritual inspiration.

The duties of a vessel are:
To contain – it becomes whatever is contained;
To keep – it must not change its content;
To carry – it must deliver.
The people of the Spirit are those who
Know their appearances, education, character and strength, and
Thus, cherish the treasures inside such jars of clay more than life, as
They are grateful and proud of them(2Co 6:8).
Therefore, they put effort to not peddle the word of God(2Co 2:17, 2Co 4:2) and
Strive to deliver it(1Co 2:1) for
The vessels that are not used will be dashed in the last day(Rev 2:27).

O Lord,
Thank You for putting this treasure in rough, ugly jars of clay, such as us!
Let us never fall into despair because of the small jars that we are.
Instead, let us recognize the value of this treasure inside of us and
Use us to keep the truth, defend the truth and teach the truth until the end!
