The Holy Spirit Convicts
(Jn16:7-14)

God is righteous (Ps11:7).
With His righteousness He judges (Is58:2) and
By His righteousness He punishes.

Faith is accepting this and
The life of this faith is, in order to stand blameless on the day of the Lord (1Co1:8; Col1:22), before His righteous
judgment seat (2Ti4:8), putting effort to live as the righteous.

The modern era is called the age of coddling culture or “gentle parenting”
As people only want to hear words of praise and comfort, and
They do not want to hear any criticism.

As the Bible is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and
Training in righteousness the man of God (2Ti3:15-17),
God's rebuke is not punishment for wrongdoing (He12:5)
But a jockey’s crop to a horse so it can move faster.

All mankind became destined for eternal punishment with the devil (Mt25:41)
Since their ancestor Adam took the forbidden fruit and sinned (Ge3:4-6)
For it is more pleasant to hear the flattering words of the devil than the word of God (Pr26:28).

The Law was a righteous law (Ps119:160) and
It made known that correction and instruction are the way to life (Pr6:23).
However, while the true prophets rebuked Israel who disregarded God's teachings (Pr1:23-26, 3:26)
They rather listened more sweetly to the words of the false prophets (1Ki22:8-24; Eze12:20-24).
Moreover, for they misunderstood the Law,
They maintained their righteousness and would not let go of it, and thus
Their suffering continued (Job10:6, 27:6).

Yeshua said, “Destroy this temple and I will raise it again in three days,” because
Through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body (Jn2:19-21),
He would reveal that He is the righteousness (Jn16:10) and
That by His righteousness He would judge (Jn5:22).
As such, He rebuked the self-righteous Pharisees (Mt11:20-24).

As He died, He said, “It is finished” (Jn19:30), declaring that He:
1) Did not become a reproach to sinners (Eze3:26) but rather died according to the Father’s command, and
was sealed with righteousness (Jn10:18; Rm5:18-19);
2) Judged the devil the prince of the world (Jn12:31); and
3) Bore in His body sin in place of the unrighteous mankind (Rm5:6-8; 1Pe3:18), and He was inflicted in anger
and in wrath and with stinging rebuke (Eze5:15).

He resurrected and ascended to heaven, and became the righteous Judge (2Ti4:8).
The Holy Spirit whom He sent rebukes the world (Jn16:7),
1) Regarding sin: i.e., not believing Yeshua — not believing that He alone is innocent (Ac4:12), His innocent
blood (Mt27:4), redemption, resurrection and return, and everything that does not come from faith is sin
(Rm14:23);
2) Regarding righteousness: i.e., Yeshua Christ Himself — though in the Era of Grace after His ascension there
has not been judgement or punishment against the world, the day of Christ’s return will be the time of
punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written (Lk21:22), until then the Law is good to lead men to
repent (1Ti1:8-10);
3) Regarding judgement: i.e., the prince of this world has already been judged but there remains a day when
saints will face the judgment for their deeds at the judgment seat of Christ, thus, they must cut off all that is
earthly, unspiritual and demonic (Jas3:15); and
4) Rebukes the Churches: for losing their first love, first zeal (Rev2:4, 3:5-19) and for becoming secular and
spiritually corrupt (Rev2:14, 20).

Therefore, the man of the Spirit is willing to be struck by the hand of the Lord now
For it is better than to be thrown out into the darkness on that day.

O Lord,
We hope to stand as blameless before the judgement seat of Christ in that day.
So we wish to be convicted and corrected by the Holy Spirit today…
Please do not spare the crop!
Rebuke us and we will repent! Amen.
