The Holy Spirit is a Personal God
(Ac1:3-5; Rev3:20-22)
God is a personal God.
Through the person He reveals His existence and
Through the person He makes relationship.
Faith is making a personal relationship with Him and
The life of this faith is being intervened and governed by that person.
The persona is the social face an individual presents to the world externally and
It is a function for reflecting myself and interacting with the world around me.
A “personal god” is a person with unique intelligence, emotions, and will,
A deity who is not only the cause of matter and a supreme being
But also an independent individual being.
However, natural theists, deists, atheists reject a personal god who intervenes and governs life.
The Bible says that God is personal, not an impersonal force, and
The world created by His intelligent design,
His beginning of conversation with Adam, the eternal personal being, the living being (Ge2:17),
His lament, distress, love, anger, and will etc all speak of this.
The Israelites are a people who received
The decrees and laws from the LORD, the I AM (self-existent) (Ex3:14, 18:20).
When they obeyed His commandments and called (Ps77:1)
God answered because He had a personal relationship with them.
Yet Israel feared God (Rm8:15) for if anyone mishandled the ark called by His name (2Sa6:6-7) or
If anyone approached the sanctuary where His name is, they would be put to death (Nu1:51).
Yeshua said, “Destroy this temple and I will raise it again in three days,” because
Through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body (Jn2:19-21),
He would make an everlasting personal relationship with all mankind for
The very nature God came as man, in the person of a servant (Mt20:28; Php2:6-7).
He came to His own but His own did not receive Him (Jn1:11), and
Though He was mocked, despised, ridiculed and shamed
He endured them all (He12:2).
As He died, He said, “It is finished” (Jn19:30), declaring that He:
1) Offered up His life according to the Father’s command and pleased Him (Jn10:17-18);
2) Condemned the devil who misused his person (Is14:12-15); and
3) Sprinkled His redeeming blood on the souls of all men so they become new creation (2Co5:17).
After His resurrection and before His ascension,
He commanded the disciples to wait for the promised Holy Spirit (Ac1:3-5) and
Only the 120 people who waited in constant prayer for 10 days received Him.
The Son of Man is God’s unilateral greatest gift to all mankind and
The Holy Spirit is God’s greatest gift given to those who ask, that is, the answer (Lk11:13).
The Holy Spirit enters as the person of the King (Mk9:1)
Into the souls who receive (Rev3:20-22).
He is the person of God who has intelligence to know lies (Ac5:3) and deep things (2Co2:10),
Emotion to groan (Rm8:26) and rejoice (Lk10:21), and
A will in accordance with the Father’s will (Rm8:27).
The man of the Spirit is he who
Honors the Holy Spirit as the highest, the maximally great person.
He is willingly intervened and governed by the person of the Holy Spirit (Rm8:5-9).
Therefore, he does not grieve the Holy Spirit (Eph4:22-32),
He does not go against the Holy Spirit (Gal5:16-21),
He does not quench the Holy Spirit (1Th5:19), and
He does not blaspheme the Holy Spirit (Mt12:30-32).
O Lord,
The God whom those famous intellectuals rejected
I enthusiastically welcome and welcome You!
Holy Spirit, inspire me, intervene and govern my life!
Let my person which is worse than that of an animal be changed
So the person of Christ be revealed through me! Amen.
