I Long for the Lord’s Gifts
(1Co12:1-11)

God is the Lord of grace.
Every good and perfect gift comes down from Him (Jas1:17) and
He gives even more to those who long for His gifts (Ps107:9).

Faith is knowing the best gift and the One who gives it (Jn4:10) and
The life of this faith is longing for the Lord’s gifts and using them.

Everyone loves gifts for they are freely given and
They carry the heart of the giver.
As such, when the receiver receives it gladly the giver is satisfied,
But when the receiver does not then the giver feels insulted.

The Bible is a bundle of God’s gifts.
Upon the general grace of all things given to all men (Ge1:28; Ecc3:13),
God gave the only begotten Son as the special grace (Jn1:16).
To those who have received such gifts of God
God would continually give the Holy Spirit and various gifts.

After he sinned, the ancestor of mankind Adam was driven out of the Garden (Ge3:4-6) and
All men lost everything to the prince of the world, the devil.

For Abraham believed in God’s promise of seed
He was called righteous (Ge15:1-6) and
Additionally given the promise of a land and even kingdoms (Ge17:6).

Accordingly, his descendants, the Israelites, were delivered from their slavery in Egypt and
Received the gift of becoming a kingdom of priesthood (Ex19:6; Nu8:19).

The sanctuary reminded them of the inheritance they received as gift, for which
They longed for the restoration of Israel even in the midst of disasters.

However, Yeshua said, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days” (Jn2:19), because
Through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body,
He would become the Father’s gift to all men (Mt7:9-11),
The living water, the blood of the only begotten Son (Jn4:10).
To those who receive this gift with great joy (Jn1:12)
He would send the Holy Spirit as another gift, thus leaving the world in haste (Jn16:7).

As He died, He said, “It is finished” (Jn19:30), declaring that He:
1) Received the world and the throne as the gift that the Father prepared for the Son (He1:2);
2) Condemned the devil who coveted the throne (Is14:12-15; Jn10:8); and
3) Gave His blood as gift to all mankind (Rm5:15-17).

He rose and ascended to heaven, and sat on the throne from where
He gives grace (He4:16):
The Father gave the Son,
The Son the blood and the Holy Spirit, and
The Holy Spirit spiritual gifts (1Co12:1).

The Spirit of grace comes to those who receive the gift of the blood of Yeshua (Ac2:38) and
Lets them know the things they have been freely given (1Co2:12).

The man of the Spirit is he who is
Deeply moved by the Lord’s gift that cannot be bought with money (Ac8:20).
Thus, he speaks in tongues until his jaw drops,
Drives out demons even if he is called being out of mind, and
Longs for various gifts and uses them as
The Lord makes more abundant for those who have
While He takes away from the one who has little (Mt25:29).
The gift that he needs until the end is the gift of faith for
By faith one is justified, saved, becomes a child of God, and receives eternal life.
Furthermore, the prayer of faith has the power to move mountains (Mk11:23).

O Lord,
Let us all receive the gift of faith that
Allows us to simply believe! Amen.
