Be Zealous With the Zeal of the Lord Yeshua
(Is9:6-7; Rev3:15-19)

God is zealous.
He is zealous for His holy name (Eze39:25), and
He accomplishes what He speaks in His zeal (Eze5:13; Is9:7).

Faith is knowing Him and being moved by Him.
The life of this faith is being jealous with a godly jealousy (2Co11:2), that is, being zealous with
the zeal of the Lord.

In all areas of life, what determines success or failure for a man’s life
Depends not on his appearance, character, education, environment, circumstances etc
But on with how much enthusiasm and zeal he works.
Furthermore, when those with passion can produce masterpieces in spite of their disabilities,
They will be highly acclaimed even after time passes.

The Bible says that God wraps Himself in zeal in a cloak (Is59:17),
Demonstrated by His creation of living things, their countless species, their designs etc,
As well as the content of the Bible which are prophecies and covenants.
It is the story of how God’s zeal for His holy name (Eze39:25)
Accomplished what He spoke in His zeal (Eze5:13; Is9:7).

To the Israelites, His chosen people,
God revealed Himself as “Jehovah = the jealous God” (Ex20:5), for
Both “zeal” and “jealousy” have in common the meaning of being engrossed in one thing.

Among all peoples, the Israelites were a people zealous for:
1) The name Jehovah — the name of the God who is above all gods (1Ki19:10-14; Jas5:17-18);
2) The temple — the temple where the name Jehovah is (Ps69:9, 84:1-2; Da6:10; Jn2:17);
3) The law — the law spoken from heaven, the inheritance of Israel (Dt6:8-9; Neh9:13; Ps19:7; Ac21:20);
4) Circumcision — the sign of the covenant — as the people of God (Ge17:10-11; 1Sa17:36, 31:4; Php3:5; Gal1:14);
5) The land of Canaan — the eternal inheritance (Ge17:8; Lev25:38); and
6) The love for their own people — the children of Abraham (Ex2:11; Ac7:23-24; Rm9:3-4).

The prophets prophesied how the destruction of Israel and the appearance of the Messiah would
All be accomplished by the zeal of Jehovah (Is9:6; La5:2).

Yeshua said, “Destroy this temple and I will raise it again in three days” (Jn2:19),
Because through the death and the resurrection of the temple of His body,
He would be zealous in not the name Jehovah but the Father’s name Yeshua (Jn2:17).
As such, He showed His zeal in prayer, healing, debating the Jewish leaders etc.
However, by the charges brought by
The Scribes and the Pharisees whose zeal for the law was extraordinary
He was passed over to death (Mt27:22-25; Lk6:7).

As He died, He said, “It is finished” (Jn19:30), declaring that He:
1) Laid down His life and accomplished with zeal what the Father commanded in zeal in the beginning (Jn1:1, 10:17-18);
2) Condemned the devil the origin of sin (1Jn3:8); and
3) Made a way for those sprinkled with His redeeming blood to be zealous to do good works (Is26:11; Tit2:14).

According to what the Son spoke in zeal,
The Holy Spirit lets believers be jealous with godly jealousy (Rm12:11; 2Co11:2; Rev3:17-19),
A people for His own possession who are zealous for good works (Tit2:14).

The man of the Spirit, therefore, is zealous for:
The name Yeshua — the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Mt28:19); The Church — the temple (Col1:24-25);
Keeping, defending, and teaching the truth — no other gospel (2Co11:1-4);
Baptism — Christ’s circumcision (Col2:11-12);
The Father’s house — the eternal inheritance of the Christian; and
Good works — the work of saving souls, raising them to life (Mk3:4; 2Co11:2; Tit2:14).

Once Paul, who had extraordinary zeal for the law,
Came to know the great surpassing knowledge, the Truth,
Considered all else as rubbish and
Thus pressed on toward one goal, the first resurrection (Gal1:14; Php3:5-12).

O Lord,
The Passion of Christ is
The reason for me to be zealous!
Until our last breath,
Let us all be zealous with the zeal of Yeshua.
Let us raise to life the souls given to us and fire up the church!
Let us keep the truth, defend the truth and teach the truth to the next generation!
Amen.
